Student nurses put through their paces
More than 300 student nurses from the University of Dundee are battling through a unique military boot camp this month with the 225 (Scottish) Medical Regiment. Training with some of Scotland’s Army reservists, students from both the Dundee and Kirkcaldy campuses are developing their team-working, leadership skills and physical and emotional resilience at Oliver Barracks, Dalkeith Road in Dundee and in Glenrothes. Graduate takes home award for essay on climate change
A University of Dundee graduate has won a major European honour at the Undergraduate Awards, the largest international academic awards programme. Chloe Lewis, who graduated in Jewellery and Metal Design in June, took home the regional award for Visual Arts & Design from the Undergraduate Awards, meaning she came out top in Europe for her essay on the impacts of climate change. Laser technology to help take Large Hadron Collider to next level
Pioneering laser technology could boost the performance of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN to new levels of efficiency, helping unlock some of science’s greatest mysteries going back to the `Big Bang’. A post-truth world of fake news in which technology helps spread terror – not 2016 in microcosm but the classic adaptation of The Invisible Man, which will be shown at Dundee Contemporary Arts this weekend. Academician accolades for Dundee duo
Graeme Hutton, Professor of Architecture at the University of Dundee, has been elected as an academician of the Royal Scottish Academy (RSA). Jim Pattison, an Honorary Research Fellow at the University, has also received the same accolade. He and Professor Hutton will join more than 100 other artists and architects as Royal Scottish Academicians.
