‘Parasites: Battle for Survival’ – national exhibition features Dundee research

A new exhibition at the National Museum of Scotland explores the role that Scottish universities are playing in the fight to eliminate tropical diseases by tackling the parasites that cause them. ‘Parasites: Battle for Survival’ examines five deadly diseases, which together affect 1 in 18 people around the world and thrive in areas lacking access to clean water, healthcare and adequate sanitation. Improving relationships between Scotland’s universities and their local communities could help rid the nation of its reputation as the ‘sick man of Europe’. Lorraine Kelly becomes an oil painting for 60th birthday

Lorraine Kelly’s face was a picture when a portrait of the television star painted by University of Dundee graduate Sylvia Tarvet was unveiled live on air this morning. The portrait was commissioned by members of the team working on the Lorraine show as a surprise 60th birthday present for its host, a former rector of the University.
