Volunteering for good causes can give University of Dundee students a helping hand in to the world of work. Eric Knox, the CEO of Volunteer Dundee, says that giving up free time to help local charitable organisations can provide students with valuable skills and experience that will help their future career prospects. He is urging Dundee students to attend the University’s annual Volunteering and Work Experience Fair, which takes place in Air Bar, DUSA, on Thursday 14 March. A new Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) from the University of Dundee is set to tackle misconceptions around care home nursing and inspire more people to consider a career in the sector. ‘Care Home Nursing: Changing Perceptions’ was developed by the University after receiving funding from the RCN Foundation. Makaton project goes global

Music and sign language are bringing children around the world together in harmony thanks to an eTwinning project conceived at the University of Dundee. Youngsters from more than 40 countries have contributed clips of them singing and signing along to popular songs with Makaton as part of a project to break down cultural barriers and promote inclusion. Artists and architect set for New Contemporaries honour

Fourteen graduate artists and architects from the University of Dundee will compete for more than £25,000 of prizes when Scotland’s most prestigious celebration of emerging creative talent opens this weekend. RSA New Contemporaries will take place at the Royal Scottish Academy, Edinburgh, from Saturday 9 March to Wednesday 2 April. Ultramarathon pilgrim pit stops in Dundee

An ultramarathon runner who is running 1,725 miles this year in order to fundraise for refugees returning to their homes in the Middle East will make a pit stop in Dundee this week when he is hosted by the University of Dundee.
