Storm Caroline’s progress shown from space

Images captured by the University of Dundee Satellite Receiving Station over the last 72 hours show the progress of Storm Caroline as it passes over the British Isles. The images captured by the Meteosat satellite at 15:00 GMT on 05/12/2017, 12:00 GMT on 06/12/17 and most recently by the MetOp-B satellite at 10:15 GMT on 07/12/2017 demonstrate that while the UK is dwarfed by the oncoming Caroline, named by the Met Office on Tuesday, 5 December, it is largely passed over. Life Sciences gold award for public engagement

The University of Dundee’s School of Life Sciences has been awarded a prestigious Gold Watermark for its work in bringing world-class science to the wider community. European funding award for Dundee researcher

A University of Dundee scientist has been awarded €2 million to study how cells respond to infection. Professor Victoria Cowling, from the School of Life Sciences, has been given the European Research Council grant to investigate T cells, key components of the immune system which fight infection and kill cancer cells. Candlelight Carol Service - Sunday 10 December at 5pm

One of the highlights of Dundee’s festive calendar will take place this week as the University of Dundee hosts its annual Carols by Candlelight. The event, which is open to all, will take place at St Paul’s Cathedral on Sunday 10 December at 5pm. University works to secure India’s water future

Collaborative research between Scotland and India has begun on a major water management project in India, with researchers from the University of Dundee exploring the impact of increasing population and rapid economic development on water resources.
