Research reveals secrets of Shetland tsunamis
Shetland has been hit by at least two more tsunamis in the past 10,000 years than previously thought, and scientists are working to identify where the giant waves originated. Around 8,200 years ago, the Storegga submarine landslide off the coast of Norway caused a 20-metre high tsunami to sweep across Shetland. University of Dundee forensic scientist Dr Helen Meadows will be sharing her expertise in a new ten-part TV series looking at the role of the police and other experts in some of the most challenging murder cases in the UK and USA. New forum marks 50 years of Scottish social work
A celebration of Scotland’s social work past is to be used as a launch pad to shape the sector’s future. Leading figures from within the field will meet at the University of Dundee on Thursday for ‘Talking Social Work’, a new professional forum aimed at debating key issues affecting the occupation.
