Statins safe for rheumatoid arthritis patients

Patients with rheumatoid arthritis are likely to experience the same level of cardiovascular benefits from statins as other individuals without incurring additional risks, according to new research. The findings of a large clinical trial carried out by researchers at institutions including the University of Dundee appear in Arthritis & Rheumatology. Changing the World by Design

A global competition challenging young designers to change the world has been launched at the University of Dundee. The competition was announced at the 13th International Conference of the European Academy of Design (EAD), which has been hosted by the University over the past three days. The EAD is collaborating with Design Indaba to set the challenge to designers around the world to creatively engage with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. Targets to eliminate pain after surgery are a major cause of the opioid crisis in several countries, according to a new report co-authored by Professor Lesley Colvin of the University of Dundee. Published in The Lancet, the report brings together global evidence detailing the role of surgery in the opioid crisis. Dundee scientist awarded prestigious Waddington Medal

Professor Kate Storey, of the University of Dundee, has been awarded the Waddington Medal by the British Society for Developmental Biology. The Waddington Medal is the only national award in Developmental Biology. It honours outstanding research performance as well as services to the subject community.
