Dundee Literary Festival 2017 launch

Superstar children’s author Jacqueline Wilson will make her way back to Dundee for a spot of afternoon tea this November. As part of this year’s Dundee Literary Festival, the Tracy Beaker author and Honorary Graduate of the University of Dundee will host a party for her fans at the headquarters of DC Thomson, where she cut her teeth as journalist in the 1960s. The event, her only Scottish date in 2017, takes place on Saturday 11 November. New diagnostic test for human African Sleeping Sickness

A new diagnostic test developed from research at the Universities of Dundee and Cambridge has been launched with the aim of helping eliminate the disease known as African sleeping sickness. Sleeping sickness, or Human African Trypanosomiasis (HAT), is caused by parasites transmitted by tsetse flies in sub-Saharan Africa and has a devastating impact, causing thousands of deaths each year. Explorers invited to delve into the history of River Eden

Enthusiasts and citizen scientists are invited to join geographers and environmental photographers from the University of Dundee to explore the historic effects of climate change on the River Eden in Fife. On Saturday, 16th September, local explorers will be able to join in a Cupar river walk to examine the history of the River Eden and consider the effects of climate change. Careers Service in double award win

The University of Dundee’s Careers Service has taken home two awards at one of the sector’s major awards ceremonies. The team from Dundee was triumphant at this year’s Association of Graduate Careers Advisory Services awards in Nottingham last night (Wednesday, 8th September). They won the Research Informed Practice Award for their study into how their modules help to increase graduate success. They also received the award for Technology.
