A young Scot helped into higher education by a pioneering widening access scheme and an English student who applied on a last-minute whim have shared the most prestigious award given to University of Dundee students. Katherine Wade will graduate with first-class honours from the University of Dundee this week after overcoming years of adversity, which threatened her dream of studying Law. Katherine always dreamed of being a lawyer, but when she was 13 years-old she was diagnosed with severe epilepsy and had to take a year out of school until her doctors were able to find the right medication to stabilise her condition. Phone lock secures Strathmore Trophy for Fife school

Creating a graphic means of fighting phone thieves allowed tech savvy school pupils to claim a top University of Dundee prize. A team from Kirkcaldy’s Balwearie High School have claimed the prestigious Strathmore Trophy after designing a pictorial login system for mobile phones and tablets.
