Student reveals the face of ancient Canary Islander
A University of Dundee student has recreated the face of an indigenous Canary Islander, a culture thought to have been wiped out by the Spanish Empire six centuries ago. Karina Osswald, originally from Canada, has revealed what a Guanche woman, aged 25-35 years old, may have looked like. The Guanche were an indigenous group who inhabited the Canary Islands from the 1st Century AD until the 15th Century – when they were invaded and culturally absorbed by Spanish settlers. £2 million boost for Dundee researchers
Two University of Dundee scientists have been awarded prestigious fellowships worth more than £1 million each to fund their research over the next five years. Dr Greg Findlay and Dr David Murray received Sir Henry Dale Fellowships that will enable them to develop the work and profile of their laboratories. Two postdoctoral positions will also be created at Dundee’s School of Life Sciences as a result of the award. DUSA named top in Scotland by students
Dundee University Students’ Association (DUSA) has once again been named one of the top students’ unions in the UK, according to the Student Crowd’s Top 20 UK Student Union Awards 2018 list released today. The list, which is compiled by inviting nearly 8,000 current students and graduates to rate their own student unions, placed DUSA top in Scotland and third in the UK. Dr Sarah Coulthurst recognised by Royal Society of Edinburgh
The University of Dundee’s Dr Sarah Coulthurst is among the leading academics and professionals to be recognised in the Royal Society of Edinburgh’s 2018 Prize List.
