Climate change to stretch household budgets

Disadvantaged groups need to be helped to cope with the cost pressures caused by climate change, according to a new report compiled by the University of Dundee for the Joseph Rowntree Foundation. The report, ‘Community Resilience to Climate Change’ warns that shocks such as extreme weather events and stresses like changes in the cost of living will interact to generate hardships for local communities. One of the country’s largest anime, animation, videogame and cosplay conventions will take place at the University of Dundee next month as thousands of fans take to campus for Dundee’s annual geek-off.On Saturday, 8th April the University will become a vibrant display of colour as superheroes, Stormtroopers, supervillains and other characters are expected to descend upon Dundee for a day of ultra-geekiness. Two Night Stands exhibition opens in Dundee

The sequel to a popular art installation will begin at the University of Dundee this week, two decades after the original. ‘Two Night Stands’ is a series of 2 day ‘happenings’ featuring local and national artists. It will take place at the Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design’s Cooper Gallery from Friday, 17th March. A kiss of death to drug the 'undruggable'

Scientists at the University of Dundee have reported a major breakthrough in targeting the causes of many diseases, using a 'kiss of death' to destroy proteins which had previously been regarded as 'undruggable'. Much is known about proteins such as Ras and Myc, which are known to be culpable in human cancer, and Huntingtin, which causes Huntingdon's disease, but as yet they have proved stubbornly resistant to efforts to find ways of tackling them with drugs.
