The sequel to a popular art installation will begin at the University of Dundee this week, two decades after the original.
‘Two Night Stands’ is a series of 2 day ‘happenings’ featuring local and national artists. It will take place at the Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design’s Cooper Gallery from Friday, 17th March.
The gallery will be occupied by a number of artists, including acclaimed Scottish artist Ross Sinclair, emerging British artist Natalie Wardle and collaborative printmakers Dundee Print Collective.
In 1997 ‘One Night Stands’ launched the careers of many UK artists, as part of the international contemporary art festival, Contemporary Art EASTinternational. The founder, Lynda Morris, has recognised the significant achievement Cooper Gallery has made in contemporary art and visual culture, and thought the space would be a great place for the sequel.
Sophia Hao, curator of the Cooper Gallery, said, "Two Night Stands asks the question of who owns a space and who occupies it? This question is a stubborn source of friction in culture and politics and a struggle that often goes wrong”
‘Two Night Stands’ will launch on Friday, 17th March at 5:30pm and will close on Saturday, 18th April. For more information go to https://www.dundee.ac.uk/djcad/exhibitions/exhibitions/twonightstands
