The Brownlee Brothers win £16,000 of prizes at New Contemporaries 2014
Fraser and Calum Brownlee, who graduated from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design (DJCAD) last year, have been named as the inaugural winners of the £14,000 Fleming-Wyfold Bursary. The brothers received the award at the opening ceremony of the prestigious Royal Scottish Academy (RSA) New Contemporaries exhibition in Edinburgh at the weekend. The award is made by the Fleming-Wyfold Foundation, custodians of the established Fleming Collection in London. Jewellery students strike Gold(smiths)
Two jewellery students from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design (DJCAD) have scooped prizes at the Goldsmith's Precious Metal Bursary Awards 2014. Level 4 students Cathy Wang and Michelle Ho will each receive bursaries to enable them to buy precious metals for their degree work. They were recognised in the national competition, which is open to students from universities and colleges across the UK studying jewellery or a related design subject. Dundee International Book Prize judges announced
A judging panel featuring some of the literary world's most influential figures has been announced for this year's Dundee International Book Prize. Broadcaster Kirsty Lang, writer Neil Gaiman, publisher Scott Pack, literary agent Felicity Blunt and writer and critic Stuart Kelly will cast their eyes over the work of aspiring novelists from across the globe. The entrants are competing for a publishing deal with Cargo Publishing and £10,000, the largest cash prize for unpublished work in the UK. D-Lighted to lead the way
A unique study is being launched in Scotland to test whether Vitamin D can enhance treatment of Hepatitis C. The study is a partnership between researchers from Dundee University, key Scottish Hepatitis services and Hepatitis Scotland and could have significant implications on the cost and effectiveness of available Hepatitis C treatments. Bright Club Dundee set for another sell out
