Ideas for Scotland’s largest community-owned solar project to be outlined
Building Scotland’s largest community-owned solar power park in Dundee would help tackle fuel poverty, reduce CO2 emissions and regenerate derelict and contaminated land, according to a speaker appearing at the University of Dundee next week. David Livingstone talk to launch Armitstead Lectures 2014
The 127th series of Armitstead Lectures will begin at the University of Dundee next month when historian Professor John MacKenzie examines David Livingstone’s legacy, more than 200 years after the birth of the explorer and missionary. This year’s inaugural event takes place at 7.30pm on Friday, 10th October at the D’Arcy Thompson Lecture Theatre and will be followed by a further five talks in consecutive weeks. Space tech spin-out is business of the year
Space technology company STAR-Dundee has been hailed “a role model spin-out” after the firm took a major prize at the Scottish Chambers of Commerce’s inaugural awards. Academic-entrepreneur Professor Steve Parkes, Director Space Technology Centre at the University of Dundee, created the company in 2002. Dundee and Napier researchers to evaluate stop and search pilot
Researchers from the University of Dundee and Edinburgh Napier University are to evaluate a stop and search scheme being piloted by the Fife Division of Police Scotland. Dr Megan O’Neill, from Dundee, and Napier’s Dr Liz Aston, both members of the Scottish Institute of Policing Research (SIPR), will lead a team investigating the impact of a new approach to stop and search currently being trialled in Fife.
