Designs for the future at Architecture Degree Show
The ruins of Dunfermline Abbey, Dundee’s Waterfront regeneration and the Portuguese city of Porto are among the inspirations for some of the exhibits at this year's University of Dundee Architecture Degree Show. Final-year Masters in Architecture (March) students are showcasing images and models from their thesis design project at Level 6 of the University’s Matthew Building until 24th May. Degree Show films to be screened at DCA
Dundee Contemporary Arts (DCA) will this Friday help to celebrate the 2014 Degree Show at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design (DJCAD) by screening films created by students exhibiting at this year’s event. Twelve graduands from the Time Based Art & Digital Film (TBADF) and Art, Philosophy and Contemporary Practices (APCP) courses will have their work screened back-to-back at the 80-minute showcase from 3pm on Friday, 23rd May. Wartime love letters inspire modern-day jewellery
The discovery of more than 300 love letters sent between young sweethearts during World War II proved the catalyst for a range of beautifully designed and personalised jewellery being exhibited at this year’s DJCAD Degree Show. Rebecca Smith was captivated by the letters that her grandfather Trevor Smith sent to his future wife Margaret Gibb during his time as a Spitfire pilot in the RAF from 1943-46. 'Dundee Waterfront - a city in transformation' - Thursday, 22nd May
Ways in which Dundee’s existing streets and buildings can be used to enhance the £1billion Waterfront regeneration will be explored at a public lecture next week. Degree Show 2014 set to open
For around 250 of the country’s best emerging artists and designers it is the culmination of four years’ hard work, for Dundee it is the highlight of the city’s cultural calendar, and for thousands of visitors it is a chance to see work of staggering creativity and innovation.
