Bright Club Dundee set for another sell out

Academics from across Scotland will attempt to discover the properties of rib-tickling jokes when they take part in the next Bright Club event to be held in Dundee.

Marouan Zarrouk (University of Dundee), Lydia Jones (University of St Andrews) and Richard Brunner, Natasha Yapp and Gabriele Rossi (all University of Glasgow) will challenge preconceptions about academia by delivering two hours of fresh and inventive stand-up at Braes, Perth Road from 7.30pm on Tuesday, 18th February.

Bright Club is a movement established by scholars whose thirst for knowledge led them to hypothesise what might happen if research and comedy were mixed and left to ferment in front of an audience. This is the twelfth Dundee date for the series, and will be compered by the sensational Susan Morrison.

The event is organised by Dr Jon Urch, Public Engagement Co-ordinator at the University of Dundee, who says academics have to be able to think of new ways of getting their message across and laughter is one way of doing this.

'Another night of fun and laughter is on the agenda as cracking performers from Scotland's leading universities telling the audience their finest jokes,' he said. 'Every Bright Club Dundee show has been a complete sell-out so we'd encourage people to buy their ticket as soon as possible to ensure they don't miss out on this fun night of making people think about research in a different way.'

Tickets, costing £5, will be available at the door or can be booked in advance by emailing brightclubdundee@gmail.com, calling 01382 386660, or visiting www.wegottickets.com/event/257845.
