Academic excellence recognised with RSE Royal Medal
The Royal Society of Edinburgh (RSE) has recognised the University of Dundee’s Dr Robert Ryan as an outstanding early career researcher in its annual awards. Dr Ryan, a Principal Investigator and Wellcome Trust Senior Fellow in the University’s Division of Molecular Microbiology, was awarded the RSE/Patrick Neill Medal for his work in the field of microbiology, particularly the translational aspects of his work to develop new biomarkers, diagnostics and potential treatments for cystic fibrosis patients. Stuart Cross appointed to Charity Regulator board
Stuart Cross, of the School of Law at the University of Dundee, has been appointed as a Member of the Board of the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator. The announcement of new Members was made by John Swinney MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Finance, Employment and Sustainable Growth. Stuart Cross is Senior Lecturer in the School of Law at Dundee. Dundee to once again host prestigious student sports event
The University of Dundee will again host Scotland’s biggest student sports competition next week – the fourth time in five years that the prestigious event has been held in Dundee. Around 400 student competitors in 28 teams from 14 institutions will descend on the campus to compete in the British Universities and Colleges (BUCS) Conference Cup Finals on Wednesday, 26th March. Sixteen finals will be held across eight sports over the course of the day. New competence certification launched for forensics experts
The Royal Anthropological Institute (RAI) is pleased to announce that the first structured framework for certification of competence to practise in the UK courts has now been agreed and launched. Setting a professional standard for a forensic discipline has been both a challenge and an honour for the RAI. Jersey inquiry role for Dundee expert
A University of Dundee academic has been named as one of the panel members for the Independent Jersey Care Inquiry, established to find out what happened in care and foster homes on the island. Alyson Leslie is an expert in child care inquiries and reviews and has investigated the deaths of children and harm to children across the UK for over 20 years.
