DJCAD students launch takeover to exhibit work

Photo opportunity: 7.30pm on Saturday, 1st March at Generator Projects, Mid Wynd, Dundee. A group of final-year students from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design (DJCAD) will this weekend take a Dundee gallery over for an exhibition demonstrating what they have learned during their studies. Great War Dundee project wins CASS Public Engagement Award

The leading role played by two University of Dundee historians in commemorating World War I locally has seen them named as winners of the College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS) Public Engagement Award for 2013-14. Dr Billy Kenefick and Dr Derek Patrick founded the Great War Dundee (GWD) Commemorative Project and are influential in coordinating the city-wide approach to commemorate the conflict. Staff and students encouraged to support Fairtrade Fortnight 2014

A series of events aimed at encouraging students, staff and visitors to embrace ethical shopping will be held at the University of Dundee in coming weeks. The start of this year's Fairtrade Fortnight will marked on Monday, 24th February when a Fairtrade chocolate fountain is unveiled at Dundee University Students Association (DUSA). Various types of fruit (all Fairtrade as well, of course) will be used for dipping in the fountain. Dundee research gets 'dissected' on BBC

World-leading research at the University of Dundee into motion analysis and the pressures it places on our bodies will get the 'Dissected' treatment on BBC4 this week. High potency statins linked to better outcome following a heart attack

A study looking at the data of thousands of patients who suffered heart attacks has suggested treatment with high-potency statins offers a significantly improved chance of survival compared to those taking normal statins. The study, led by the University of Dundee, also found a combination of statins and the drug ezetimibe showed no improved survival rate, although researchers caution this finding needs further testing.
