Satellite image shows storm threatening UK
A dramatic satellite image received by the University of Dundee today shows the scale of the storm threatening to batter the UK. The image, received at 11.45am today at the University's Satellite Receiving Station, shows a storm system covering the entire western side of the UK and Ireland. Commemorating the great Tay flood of 1814
Many residents of Perth will still remember the disastrous flooding of January 1993, which left many hundreds of families with flooded homes and memories which they would rather forget. But this week sees the bicentenary of a flood which was recorded as being half a metre higher. On February 12th, 1814, an ice-jam flood occurred as ice floes gradually blocked the arches of Smeaton's Bridge and constricted the flow. Volunteering Fair 2014
More than 80 organisations, ranging from the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) to the Scottish Football Association (SFA), will be exhibiting at the University of Dundee's annual Volunteering Fair this month. The event will take place at Bonar Hall from 11am-3pm on Wednesday, 19th February. 'Extremes: Life, Death and the Limits of the Human Body' - Saturday Evening Lecture on February 15th
The limits of human endurance and the price paid by those determined to push the boundaries of mental and physical possibilities will be explored during the next Saturday Evening Lecture at the University of Dundee. Medical doctor and broadcaster Dr Kevin Fong, who has special interests in human space exploration and extreme environment physiology, will discuss 'Extremes: Life, Death and the Limits of the Human Body' at the Dalhousie Building on Saturday, 15th February.
