Word and Image exhibitions open
Two new exhibitions exploring the relationships between word and image will open in the University of Dundee’s Tower Building this evening. The exhibitions have been staged by the University’s Museum Services to accompany the international word and image conference ‘Riddles of Form: Exploration and Discovery in Word and Image’, being held this week. University community represented at Festivals
Staff and students from the University of Dundee will be entertaining and educating some of the millions of visitors to this year’s Edinburgh Festivals. Business Management student Craig Paton appears in the ‘This is Ceilidh’ show from 11pm each night at Spiegeltent Palazzo as part of the Fringe. Craig, who will be playing the accordion, is an accomplished musician who has recorded on three broadcasts for BBC Radio Scotland and won the All Scotland Accordion Championship in 2010. DJCAD Masters Show 2014
Holographic music, a poster detailing the anatomy of a heart, and skulls excavated during the Edinburgh Trams project feature as part of dozens of exhibits that will be on display when this year’s DJCAD Masters Show opens later this week. National Student Survey puts DUSA top in Scotland again as University achieves record results overall
The 2014 National Student Survey has once again named Dundee University Students’ Association (DUSA) as the top university students’ union in Scotland, also rising to fourth spot across the whole UK. Meanwhile, the University of Dundee has been ranked in the top 20 in the UK overall as it achieved record results in the survey. DUSA saw its scores rise this year with 86 per cent of the 2,000-plus respondents stating they were satisfied with their union, an improvement on the 82 per cent figure for 2013 and its highest ever score.
