Stuart Cross appointed to Charity Regulator board

Stuart Cross, of the School of Law at the University of Dundee, has been appointed as a Member of the Board of the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator.
The announcement of new Members was made by John Swinney MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Finance, Employment and Sustainable Growth.
Stuart Cross is Senior Lecturer in the School of Law at Dundee. He has been active in charity law for over 30 years both as a practising solicitor and academic. He has also been a trustee of many charities during that period. He is co-author of the two leading texts on charity law and is a member of the Charity Law Sub-Committee of the Law Society of Scotland. He is chair of Fife Cultural Trust and vice chair of Dundee Contemporary Arts ltd.
The Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR) became a Non-Ministerial Department and part of the Scottish Administration following commencement of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005. They are the independent regulator and registrar for over 23,000 Scottish charities, including community groups, religious charities, schools, universities, grant-giving charities and major care providers.
“Having been involved from the outset in advising on the Bill which became the 2005 Act and then leading the push for OSCR to be located in Dundee I am now delighted to join the OSCR Board,” said Stuart.
The appointment is for four years and will run from April 1, 2014 to March 31, 2018.
