Egyptian dental delegation visit Dundee to cement links
A delegation from Cairo University will next week visit Tayside to cement dental links with the University of Dundee. Dundee’s School of Dentistry recently launched an innovative international training programme for dentists in Egypt. University to play part in 'Remembering Loos'
University of Dundee historians Dr Billy Kenefick and Dr Derek Patrick will tomorrow play a leading role in commemorating the centenary of the Battle of Loos, known as Dundee’s Flodden due to the devastating impact of the city’s soldiers. The battle, which began on 25th September 1915, was the largest fought by the British army that year. CAHID reveal some of the mysteries of 9,000-year-old decapitation
The University of Dundee’s Centre for Anatomy and Human identification (CAHID) have helped archaeologists understand more about the oldest case of decapitation ever found in the New World. André Strauss from the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology was excavating the Lapa do Santo site in eastern Brazil when he struck upon a head buried under a rock. The rest of the skeleton never materialised but Strauss slowly uncovered the disembodied skull and hands, partially crushed as a result of being buried for thousands of years. Architects to draw upon 50 years of memories at reunion
A group of architects will return to their alma mater this Friday to celebrate the 50th anniversary of them starting their training. Members of the 1965 architecture intake will meet at the front steps of Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design at 12noon on Friday, 25th September. Leading creative thinkers strike gold at Undergraduate Awards
The University of Dundee’s Marianne White and Megan Falconer are among the winners of this year’s Undergraduate Awards, a competition that attracted more than 5000 entries from around the world. Marianne was the Overall Winner of the Nursing & Midwifery category, while Megan won the same award for Visual Arts & Design.
