Construction work starts on V&A Museum of Design Dundee

A “ground-breaking” ceremony on the V&A Museum of Design Dundee’s waterfront site marked the formal start of construction work today on Thursday March 5th. ‘Tapping all our talents: Women in science, technology, engineering and mathematics’ – 7th March

Professor Dame Jocelyn Bell Burnell, the first female President of the Royal Society of Edinburgh, will examine the progress made by women in traditionally male-dominated areas at the next Saturday Evening Lecture in Dundee. Dame Jocelyn will talk about ‘Tapping all our talents: Women in science, technology, engineering and mathematics’ at the University of Dundee’s Dalhousie Building on Saturday, 7th March. The lecture is part of International Women’s Day celebrations in the city and also marks the start of the 2015 Women in Science Festival which runs from 7th–28th March. ...

Art and architecture graduates to exhibit at 2015 New Contemporaries

Eighteen graduate artists from the University of Dundee will exhibit their work at the 2015 Royal Scottish Academy New Contemporaries show in Edinburgh. Now in its seventh year, New Contemporaries is regarded as the most prestigious showcase for young artists in Scotland and this year’s exhibition will take place at the RSA Galleries on The Mound from Saturday, 14th March to Wednesday, 8th April. ‘Bodies in Motion’ – exhibition opens on 7th March

A new exhibition focusing on movement and its study and representation will open at the University of Dundee this weekend. ‘Bodies in Motion’ opens at the Tower Foyer Gallery on Saturday, 7th March. RSE honour for Dundee academics

Two academics from the University of Dundee are among the newly announced Fellows of the Royal Society of Edinburgh. Professor Niamh Nic Daeid, of the Centre for Anatomy and Human Identification (CAHID), and Professor Colin Palmer, from the University’s School of Medicine, have both been elected Fellows.
