‘Seeing through the see-through’ – new exhibition at LifeSpace

The stem cells of fruit flies and the behaviour of slime mould are among the unusual inspirations for work featuring in the newest exhibition at the University of Dundee’s LifeSpace Science Art Research Gallery. ‘Seeing through the see-through’ opens at LifeSpace on Thursday, 29th October and features work created through its first artist-in-residence programme. Dundee researchers recognised among top young scientists in Europe

Two researchers from the University of Dundee have been recognised as rising stars in European sciences after being named EMBO Young Investigators. Dr Yogesh Kulathu and Dr Robert Ryan, both based in the School of Life Sciences at the University, are among 23 young researchers from across Europe to be selected to join the prestigious network. “We welcome these young scientists to our growing network,” says Gerlind Wallon, Manager of the Young Investigator Programme. “The status of Young Investigator offers them recognition and access to a network of their peers in Europe." University pledges to support care leavers

Professor Sir Pete Downes, Principal and Vice Chancellor of the University of Dundee, will this week pledge the institution’s support for young people brought up in care. He will sign up for the ‘Pledge to Listen’ campaign ahead of a special Care Leavers Lecture, which will take place at the University’s Dalhousie Building on Friday, 30th October. `Outer Space Inner Space' marks Observatory's 80th anniversary

Mills Observatory in Dundee is celebrating 80 years of stargazing and public engagement with the official launch of a new interactive project developed by the University of Dundee. `Outer Space|Inner Space’ will give visitors to the Observatory the chance to delve into some of the world-leading research carried out at the University. Lord Reed to give law lecture at University of Dundee

Lord Reed, one of the two Scottish Justices of Britain’s Supreme Court and one of the country’s leading authorities on human rights law, will deliver a public lecture at the University of Dundee on Friday October 30th.
