‘People & Place’ – 11th annual Culture Day
The River Tay, Highland Clearances, Claude Monet, interior design and Minecraft are among the subjects that will be explored at the University of Dundee’s 11th annual Culture Day next week. Students, staff and members of the public will be treated to a fascinating interdisciplinary programme of talks and drama at the Baxter Conference Room 1.36 on Wednesday, 18th November when artists, scientists, historians and other speakers examine this year’s theme of ‘People & Place’. Winter Graduation 2015
More than 1000 students will be joined by family and friends to celebrate their academic achievements at the University of Dundee's Winter Graduation next week. Taking place at Caird Hall over three ceremonies on Thursday 19th and Friday 20th November, the Graduation will see students spanning a wide range of disciplines receive their undergraduate and postgraduate degrees and diplomas. LifeSpace-commissioned work features in international group exhibition at The Lowry
An artwork created for the opening of the University of Dundee’s LifeSpace Science Art Research Gallery is included in an international exhibition of current digital art practice opening this week at The Lowry in Salford. ‘Stutterer’, created by artists Thomson & Craighead is a two-channel video installation that uses the human genome sequence as its score and take more than 75 years to play from beginning to end. ‘Jacobites by Name’ – new Calum Colvin exhibition to open at Scottish National Portrait Gallery
The University of Dundee’s Calum Colvin, one of Scotland’s leading contemporary artists, explores the visual imagery and legacy of the Jacobite Risings of 1715 and 1745 in a new exhibition opening at the Scottish National Portrait Gallery this week. ‘Jacobites by Name’ is one of two new exhibitions marking the 300th anniversary of the 1715 Jacobite Rising. Exceptional students recognised for achievements
The annual Life & Biomedical Sciences Education Student Awards at the University of Dundee will this week recognise the accomplishments of dozens of high-achieving undergraduates. Thirty-six students will be congratulated for their hard work over the last academic year in ‘The Street’ at the Discovery Centre, School of Life Sciences, on Thursday, 12th November.
