Immune system ‘on switch’ breakthrough could lead to new targeted drugs
A crucial ‘on switch’ that boosts the body’s defences against infections has been successfully identified in new scientific research. Professor Irwin McLean awarded Buchanan Medal by Royal Society
Professor Irwin McLean of the University of Dundee has been awarded the prestigious Buchanan Medal of the Royal Society. The Buchanan Medal is awarded by the Royal Society, the world’s oldest scientific academy in continuous existence, for distinguished contributions to the medical sciences. Irwin McLean is Professor of Human Genetics and Scientific Director of the Centre for Dermatology and Genetic Medicine at Dundee. Dundee a winner in Herald Higher Education Awards
The University of Dundee was last night named the winner of the Innovation Technology Excellence Award at the inaugural Herald Higher Education Awards at a glittering ceremony in Glasgow. Dundee picked up the award for a project in the School of Medicine which has that enables undergraduate students to complete coursework using their own mobile devices and tablets in the classroom, an approach that has not only transformed the way that students learn, but also enhanced the way that teachers teach. Starry sponsorship deal for School of Business
Dundee will have an extra Star in the city this year after the University of Dundee and the ice hockey team Dundee CCS Stars renewed their innovative sponsorship deal.
