Dundee leading way in improving access for poorer students
The latest figures issued by the Scottish Funding Council on widening access to higher education for students from the most deprived sections of society have shown the University of Dundee making the biggest improvements in the country. The Funding Council’s `Learning for All’ report shows entry rates into higher education in Scotland for students from the 20 per cent most deprived areas (MD20) and the 40 per cent most deprived (MD40) areas in the country. The philosophy of the digital age
Is the Internet one or many things and is the advent of the ‘Information Age’ something to be welcomed or feared? These are some of the questions that will be asked at an event at the University of Dundee examining the role of philosophy in helping us to understand our digital lives. ‘Digital Subject UK’ takes place at the Dalhousie Building on Wednesday, 1st April. From Corby to the Gold Coast, hopes Dundee student Triathlete
A University of Dundee student who switched from Skiing to Triathlon will compete in her first race of the season on Sunday (29th March) as she builds towards her Commonwealth ambitions. Accountancy student Sarah Stephen, (23) has hopes of competing at the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, but first she has a British Duathlon Championships in Corby to contend with. Duathlon is the Run-Bike-Run cousin to the Swim-Bike-Run Triathlon and Sarah is showing great prowess in these and in Aquathlon, the Swim-Run format. Famous women scientists travel through time to stitch and bitch
Emma Darwin, Florence Nightingale, Marie Curie and other pioneering women of science are about to step out of a time machine at the University of Dundee tomorrow. They – or at least actresses playing them – will be participating in ‘The Lady Scientist Stitch and Bitch’ at the D’Arcy Thompson Lecture Theatre, Tower Building, on Friday, 27th March. Yes and No voters more alike than you might think
Many voters in last year’s passionately contested referendum on Scottish independence were influenced by the same factors regardless of how they eventually voted, according to new research by the University of Dundee.
