Record number of doors set to open in Dundee this weekend
From an historic ship to the Sherriff Court, a fire station to fine art galleries, venues across Dundee will be throwing their doors open to visitors this weekend. This year’s Doors Open Days, one of Dundee’s biggest annual community celebrations, will take place on the weekend of 19th and 20th September. Thousands of people will be allowed to access all areas at 50 buildings not normally open to the public as well as taking part in events, tours and talks for all ages. ‘Molecular clock’ deciphered by Dundee researchers
Temporal control of a ‘molecular clock’ that plays a vital role in the embryonic development of the skeleton and skeletal musculature has been deciphered for the first time by researchers at the University of Dundee. Understanding the segmentation clock mechanism will aid in the identification of protective factors for normal spinal development ultimately creating a better understanding of ways to prevent and better treat various spinal conditions. Art from mini human hearts – new exhibition opens
Miniature beating human hearts and a periodic table of emotions are the inspiration behind an exciting new joint exhibition opening at Abertay University and the University of Dundee. Dystonia Society awards seed funding to Dundee researcher
Dr Tom Gilbertson, a Clinical Lecturer in Neurology at the University of Dundee, has been awarded £30,000 to carry out research into a disabling and currently incurable neurological condition that causes uncontrollable and sometimes painful muscle spasms. Around 70,000 people in the UK live with dystonia, and can experience difficulties with movement, eating, talking, writing, reading and sometimes even sitting up.
