Research project to lay foundations for offshore wind farms
The University of Dundee is to lead a major research project to determine whether cheaper, more environmentally friendly, and more effective foundations can be developed for the offshore renewables industry. The project, funded by a £1million grant from the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council, will look at the use of screw piles for offshore installations. Dundee International Book Prize 2015 finalists announced
The Chicken Soup Murder by Maria Donovan, Devil Take the Hindmost by Martin Cathcart Froden and Rainbirds by Clarissa Nathania Goenawan will compete for the top spot in this year’s Dundee International Book Prize, which attracted almost 500 entries from four continents. Breakthrough in fibre optics opens up possibility of better understanding of disease and communication revolution
A new study from the University of Dundee could open up a new era of superfast communications technology and lead to breakthroughs in the treatment of medical conditions such as Alzheimer’s. Particles of light can, in principle, carry and deliver an unlimited amount of information between two remote places. Dundee’s buildings set to open their doors once again
The programme for this year’s Doors Open Days, one of Dundee’s biggest annual community celebrations, will be launched in the city next week. Doors Open Days 2015 takes place on the weekend of 19th and 20th September. Thousands of people will be allowed to access all areas at a record 50 buildings not normally open to the public as well as taking part in events, tours and talks for all ages.
