‘Wishing Tree’ returns for carers’ Christmas

Christmas shoppers in Dundee will be able to help provide a gift of reading for young carers in the city with the return of the `Waterstones Wishing Tree’. The charitable fauna, a collaboration between Waterstones, the University’s `Literary Dundee’, Leisure and Culture Dundee and the City Council, is a special way for shoppers to gift a book to a young person in the city who has a caring role and/or is affected emotionally by a family member’s long-term illness, disability, mental health or addiction problems. Professor Sue Black may have received her Damehood from HM The Queen at Buckingham Palace last week but it will be a ceremony at Dundee’s Caird Hall this Friday that really fills her with pride. Dental students scrum for Mouth Cancer Action Month

Dental students from the University of Dundee have teamed up with Scottish rugby legend Scott Hastings and oral health experts in a bid to raise awareness of mouth cancer. Hastings, patron of the charity Let’s Talk About Mouth Cancer will be visiting Dundee on Wednesday, 16th November to launch this year’s Mouth Cancer Action Month campaign in Dundee.
