£1.3million funding for research into the cellular division errors that drive cancer
The University of Dundee’s Dr Adrian Saurin has been awarded £1.3million to explore how the body’s cells replicate themselves correctly and why this goes wrong in cancer. Dr Saurin, of the University’s School of Medicine, has received the funding from Cancer Research UK to carry out fundamental research into the mechanism of cellular division. Four new posts will be created as part of the six-year study. A fledgling Dundee-based games company will launch their first game in style this week as it goes live on the Apple App store in 12 different languages. BAUM is an enchanting, highly-addictive 2D platform game and is the first release of Dundee independent games studio, A Fox Wot I Drew. Top researchers to celebrate the career of retiring Professor
Some of the world’s top diabetes researchers will gather at the University of Dundee on Friday to pay tribute to Professor Steve Greene. Phenomics Discovery Initiative launched
The Universities of Dundee, Oxford and Edinburgh have announced the formation of the Phenotypic Discovery Initiative (PDi) with Janssen Pharmaceutica N.V. the first industry partner joining the initiative. A phenotype is one or more observable features or traits that report changes in a biological system or its reaction its environment. Lego robots to battle waste – and each other
Lego robots will this weekend battle it out at the University of Dundee to prove they have what it takes to help to tackle the world’s waste problems. The FIRST LEGO League (FLL) event will see teams of youngsters aged 9-16 from the Tayside area compete against each other in a series of challenges designed to make the participants think about the challenges created by waste.
