Under 18s go free at Dundee Botanic Garden.
The University of Dundee Botanic Garden will open its gates for free to under 18s this summer. Every day between July and August, young people will be able to see the collection of conifers, broad-leaved trees, shrubs, tropical and temperate glasshouses, all for free. Adults will also benefit from this offer every Saturday until August 27th. ‘Leaping Girl’ puts Professor in line for award
Graeme Hutton, Professor of Architecture at the University of Dundee, is in the running for a national photography award celebrating the UK’s best museums. Five museums and galleries have been shortlisted for the Museum of the Year prize awarded annually by the Art Fund organisation. Alongside the main award, Art Fund are running a competition to find the best photograph of the shortlisted entries. ‘Outstanding’ mother and son hailed at Graduation
Mechanical Engineering student Jamie Scott will be recognised for his stellar academic achievements at the University of Dundee on the same day that the institution celebrates his mother’s exceptional teaching. Snow Patrol degree postponed by illness
The award of a honorary degree by the University of Dundee to Snow Patrol frontman Gary Lightbody has had to be postponed due to illness. Gary was due to receive his honorary degree from the University on Friday June 24th but he has been hit with an illness that has meant he is currently unable to travel from his home in California. “I am heartbroken to miss the Graduation, and also the chance to see Northern Ireland playing in the Euro Championships, but I am hoping to make it back to Dundee at the next possible opportunity,” said Gary. High-achieving couple have Summer School to thank for success – and love
David Ogle and Cassie Hinkson will both graduate from the University of Dundee with First-Class Honours this week – four years after a course for people without the grades to enter university led them to the city and into each other’s lives. David (30) and Cassie (25) met after enrolling on the Dundee University Access to Learning (DUAL) Summer School in June 2012.
