Interventions on high-risk prescribing can cut hospital admissions
High-risk prescribing and preventable drug-related complications in primary care are major concerns for health care systems internationally, responsible for up to 4 per cent of emergency hospital admissions. Now a major study of drug prescribing has shown that intervening in primary care health practices can significantly reduce rates of high-risk prescribing of drugs. Dundee students win animation prize for best TV licence excuses video
Animation students from the University of Dundee have scooped a prestigious competition win by bringing to life a bizarre excuse for watching TV without having a TV licence. The winner of the People’s Choice film, ‘King of Scotland’ received 173 ‘likes’ on the TV Licensing YouTube channel from a total of more than 1,000 votes, seeing off competition from films produced by degree course students from Derby, Middlesex, Belfast and Bristol1. Experts and patients meet to tackle Scotland’s chronic pain
The latest developments in tackling chronic pain suffered by people across Scotland will be discussed at a meeting of experts and patients this week at the University of Dundee. Dundee to host sports championships
Scotland’s biggest student sports competition will tomorrow take place at the University of Dundee for the fifth time in six years. The University’s Institute of Sport and Exercise will host the British Universities and Colleges (BUCS) Conference Cup Finals and around 400 student competitors from 12 institutions will descend upon the campus to contest 16 finals in badminton, basketball, football, hockey, rugby, netball, tennis and volleyball.
