`Phenomenal’ performance brings UK competition win for Dundee student
A performance described as `phenomenal’ by judges has seen University of Dundee medical student Theron Ng win a major UK competition. Theron, a fourth-year student who is from Malaysia, was one of over 100 students taking part in the National Undergraduate Neuroanatomy Competition, which tests students on their knowledge of neuroscience, neurosurgery and neurology. Art exhibition poses questions on the issue of fracking
The University of Dundee’s Centrespace Gallery will be home to a new contemporary art exhibition, honing in on the contested operation of fracking. ‘When The Future Was About Fracking’ opens tomorrow and is an immersive installation by Paris-based artists’ group HeHe. New trial aims to prevent type 1 diabetes
A clinical study evaluating a new hypothesis that an inexpensive drug with a simple treatment regimen can prevent type 1 diabetes has been launched in Dundee. The autoimmune diabetes Accelerator Prevention Trial (adAPT) is led by Professor Terence Wilkin, of the University of Exeter Medical School, with support from colleagues at the University of Dundee and NHS Tayside. Tennis elbow risk could be eased by reduced tension
`Tennis elbow’ is a condition that affects almost half of all tennis players in their lifetime. Now a study by researchers at the University of Dundee has revealed for the first time that reducing racquet string tension can reduce the risk of injury. Professor Rami Abboud and his team at the University’s Institute of Motion Analysis and Research (IMAR) examined the forces placed on the elbow of tennis players while they executed simulated backhand strokes.
