Royal Society of Chemistry award for Dundee researcher
Dr Alessio Ciulli of the University of Dundee has been named the winner of a major award from the Royal Society of Chemistry. Dr Ciulli, from the University’s School of Life Sciences, has been named joint winner of the Capps Green Zomaya Memorial Award by the RSC. The award recognises outstanding work in medicinal or computational medicinal chemistry and is given to `an individual judged to have made an important contribution to the discovery or development of new medicines’, with nominations open to candidates up to the age of 40. Mark Beaumont declared Rector of the University of Dundee
Mark Beaumont, the man who cycled the world and has completed a host of long-distance adventures, has been named the new Rector of the University of Dundee. Mark, who attended school in Dundee, assumes the role of Rector with immediate effect. Entries invited for Dundee International Book Prize 2016
The organisers of the Dundee International Book Prize have once again invited unpublished authors to polish their manuscripts and stake their claim for £5,000 and a publishing deal with Freight Books. Submissions are being sought for the 2016 award, which this year also offers a week of protected writing time in the City of Discovery as well as the coveted publishing contract and cash prize. Medical school access `dominated by most affluent’, says new study
Access to medical school across the UK is still dominated by students from more affluent parts of society, a new study led by the University of Dundee has shown. The study has revealed considerable variation between the four UK nations and between different medical schools.
