Professor Steele appointed Chair of UK Screening Committee
Professor Bob Steele, of the University of Dundee, has been appointed as the independent Chair of the UK National Screening Committee (UK NSC), the body which advises Ministers and the NHS in all four countries about all aspects of screening policy. Professor Steele is one of the UK’s leading authorities on cancer screening, which plays a vital role in detecting the disease in its earliest stages and increasing survival rates. Scenic sights on show at University
A selection of scenic views by celebrated Scottish and English landscape painters from the early 19th century until the present day will go on display at the University of Dundee tomorrow. The exhibition, entitled ‘Scenic’, will be on display at the Tower Foyer Gallery. It includes previously unseen works by artists such as William York Macgregor, celebrated as the founding father of the Glasgow Boys, and Charlotte Nasmyth, a rare example of a highly successful female painter in the 19th century. Jacqui Wood Cancer Centre opens doors to showcase world-leading work
The University of Dundee’s Division of Cancer Research will next week welcome visitors keen to hear about its pioneering work to the Jacqui Wood Cancer Centre. The Division is hosting an Open Day from 10am-3pm on Saturday, 2nd July to showcase its world-leading research from the bench to the bedside. Demonstrations, lab tours and talks from cancer researchers will introduce the variety of cancer-related activities taking place at the Centre, situated on the Ninewells Hospital estate.
