Emerging talent to the fore at Degree Show 2016
The University of Dundee will once more be transformed into Scotland’s largest exhibition space next week when some of the UK’s brightest emerging creative talents showcase the fruits of their undergraduate labours. The Art, Design and Architecture Degree Show 2016 opens on Friday, May 20th. Dundee scientist wins Royal Society of Chemistry Prize
Professor David Lilley, from the University of Dundee, is the Royal Society of Chemistry Khorana Prizewinner for 2016. The Khorana Prize recognises outstanding achievement award for research at the chemistry and life science interface. Professor Lilley receives £5000, a medal and a certificate. Trial aims to improve muscle strength in older people
A UK-wide clinical trial is set to examine whether a commonly used heart pill and a food supplement could improve the health of older people across the UK by improving muscle strength. Researchers at the University of Dundee, University of Aberdeen and Imperial College London are testing whether the treatments can prevent the weakening of muscles that commonly affects older people. The research team aims to recruit 450 people aged 70 and over from across the UK. Celebrating ‘Art in Relief’
Relief prints from the University of Dundee’s extensive collections, including works by notable masters Alison McKenzie and Willie Rodger as well as former students of Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design, have gone on display at the University’s Tower Foyer Gallery. The new exhibition, ‘Art in Relief’ will showcase dozens of prints for public viewing in a precursor to both the Print Design Festival 2016 and the Ignite Festival. Student takes on new role with ice hockey team
A current University of Dundee student will combine his studies with a new job at a local ice hockey team. Elliot Shaw, a second year Business Management student, will take up the post of Commercial Manager at the Dundee Stars for next season. He’s familiar with the team having completed a placement with the club as part of his course.
