‘Pole Tay Pole’ – new exhibition at University
A new exhibition featuring artworks inspired by Dundee's historic connection with polar exploration and whaling will open at the University of Dundee’s D’Arcy Thompson Zoology Museum this Friday. As the city was a major centre of the European whaling industry, Dundee men sailed regularly to the Arctic seas, bringing back not just whale product but specimens for museums and Inuit artefacts traded with the native people they met. Managing Antibiotic Resistance returns after early success
According to the World Health Organisation, antimicrobial-resistant infections currently claim at least 50,000 lives each year across Europe and the US alone. Tackling this growing health problem requires education of healthcare professionals on a global scale, which is why the University of Dundee has launched a course which can be studied anywhere in the world. €2million to investigate DNA damage and repair
A University of Dundee researcher has been awarded a prestigious €2million grant to investigate how DNA becomes damaged, leading to ageing and disease. Dr Helen Walden, of the University’s School of Life Sciences, has been awarded the European Research Council (ERC) Consolidator Grant. The highly competitive awards are given to the best and most creative researchers working in Europe. Commission to discover University’s widening access successes
The University of Dundee will this week welcome a high-level delegation keen to hear about its sector-leading work in widening access to higher education.
