Dundee dentists pilot public health coaching in prison
A health coaching initiative developed by dentists from the University of Dundee has led to a significant shift in the behaviour and wellbeing of prisoners at HM Prison Perth. The team from the Dental Health Services Research Unit (DHSRU) developed the People in Prison, Health Coaching for Scotland (PeP-SCOT)programme to provide health coaching training for people in prison. University Rector meets Olympic Silver Medallist Stephen Milne
World record-breaking cyclist Mark Beaumont, Rector of the University of Dundee, will meet Olympic medallist and fellow Scotsman, Stephen Milne at the Institute of Sport and Exercise today. The record-breaking long-distance cyclist Mark Beaumont is set to open the University of Dundee’s new Support Hub next week. New blood test developed to tackle major livestock disease in Africa
The University of Dundee and the Global Alliance for Livestock Veterinary Medicines (GALVmed) have partnered to develop a simple and effective device that tests for a cattle disease that is endemic in 40 African countries and accounts for up to a 50 percent loss in milk and meat production in the continent. The device, less than 3 inches long and similar in format to a pregnancy test, can identify within 30 minutes whether or not an animal is infected with the parasite Trypanosoma vivax from a single drop of blood.
