Dundee soars in Guardian University Guide 2017
The University of Dundee is among the fastest risers in the 2017 Guardian University Rankings, released today, and has topped the UK table in forensic science and archaeology. Dundee is placed 28th in this year’s overall rankings, up ten places from last year. The University had already jumped nine places from the 2015 edition to last year’s. University community helps drive Dundee Design Festival
The University of Dundee will be at the forefront of next week’s Dundee Design Festival, highlighting the vital role it is playing in the city’s reinvention. Dundee, the UK’s only UNESCO City of Design, is hosting the first Dundee Design Festival at the former West Ward Works from 25th to 28th May. University marks International Clinical Trials Day
Today (May 20th) is International Clinical Trials Day, and teams from the University of Dundee and NHS Tayside are out and about encouraging local people to get involved in research. International Clinical Trials Day celebrates the anniversary of the very first clinical trial, held in 1747 by James Lind, who discovered that citrus fruits such as limes could cure scurvy in sailors. Textile lecturers racing to fundraise for students
Teaching staff from the University of Dundee are aiming for a personal best when they enter the Edinburgh half-marathon at the end of this month, in an effort to raise money for graduating Textile Design students to attend the prestigious New Designers exhibition later this year. Lecturers Sara Robertson and Jane Keith of Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design are aiming to complete the half-marathon in less than two hours. Students get chance to impress ‘Sew Yummy’ ‘Menswear Designer’
Textile Design students from the University of Dundee will have the opportunity to wow Patrick Grant, leading fashion designer and star of The Great British Sewing Bee, when he meets with them next week. The creator of acclaimed menswear collections will be taking part in a number of events when he visits the city on Saturday, 28th May.
