Engineering students take top prize in China
A team of engineering students from the University of Dundee scooped up first place in a prestigious competition held at Suzhou Institute of Biomedical Engineering and Technology (SIBET) in China this week. More than 100 teams from around the world took part in this year’s biomedical instrumentation innovation competition, which sees teams design new medical devices. Alumnus establishes bursary to help students
An alumnus of the University of Dundee has set up a bursary to help current students who are following in his footsteps. David Peattie graduated in 1976 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and Economics. He is now the Chief Executive of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority and has spent his career tackling complex commercial and engineering challenges throughout the world. Research to put bite on liver disease NASH
A form of liver disease which threatens to become a modern epidemic due to its association with obesity and type 2 diabetes – both major health issues for modern society – may be stopped in its tracks thanks to a research breakthrough by scientists at the Universities of Dundee, St Andrews and Stony Brook. Jenna’s marathon year in memory of mum
A digital interaction design student at the University of Dundee has undertaken a mammoth task this year as she aims to complete 17 marathons in 2017. Jenna Maudlin, a third-year student from Lowestoft, who had never run further than 10k before this year, has so far completed 14 marathons in memory of her mother, Carolyn, who sadly died due to breast cancer in 2007.
