Two Night Stands exhibition opens in Dundee
The sequel to a popular art installation will begin at the University of Dundee this week, two decades after the original. ‘Two Night Stands’ is a series of 2 day ‘happenings’ featuring local and national artists. It will take place at the Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design’s Cooper Gallery from Friday, 17th March. A kiss of death to drug the 'undruggable'
Scientists at the University of Dundee have reported a major breakthrough in targeting the causes of many diseases, using a 'kiss of death' to destroy proteins which had previously been regarded as 'undruggable'. Much is known about proteins such as Ras and Myc, which are known to be culpable in human cancer, and Huntingtin, which causes Huntingdon's disease, but as yet they have proved stubbornly resistant to efforts to find ways of tackling them with drugs. Young scientists to present research at House of Commons
Two young researchers from the University of Dundee have been selected to present their work at the House of Commons. Mohapradeep Mohan from the School of Medicine will discuss how to treat cardiovascular diseases with the world’s most common diabetes drug metformin, while PhD student Vasiliki Bitsouni will present her findings on mathematical modelling of cancer invasion.
