Double dose of Dee Con for Dundee
Thousands of costumed characters will provide a colourful welcome to this year’s new University of Dundee students when Dee Con, the city’s largest ‘geek-off’ returns next month. Superheroes, video game stars and anime characters will bring a splash of colour to the city next month when Dee Con will be held as part of the new THIS Festival in the West Ward Works, a former comic printing factory, on Saturday, 9th September. Solar flares dazzle at Mills Observatory
Solar experts from the University of Dundee joined citizen scientists to observe the mysteries of our Sun at Mills Observatory this week. Members of the public were invited to experience a solar storm in virtual reality and view spectacular images of the Sun captured by the Hubble Space Telescope as part of the Wednesday Wonders series held by the University in collaboration with Leisure and Culture Dundee. Dundee top in UK for providing ideas behind inventions
University of Dundee research is the best in the UK at influencing innovation, according to a new report published today. The Nature Index 2017 Innovation supplement sheds new light on the impact academic research is having on innovation by examining how research articles are cited in third-party patents across the world. Dundee ranked in UK’s top 10 for student satisfaction
The University of Dundee is ranked 9th in the UK in the 2017 National Student Survey (NSS), achieving a top 10 place for a second successive year. The University recorded overall satisfaction of 90 per cent, well above the sector average of 84 per cent, and was ranked 2nd in Scotland. These positive results follow on from the University being given a Gold award – the highest possible rating – in the first Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF), the results of which were published in June.
