Dundee Writes uncovers University’s hidden creative talent
What do a Politics postgraduate from Nigeria, a Professor of chronic pain management in Dundee, a deep water salvage specialist from Fife and a graduate of International Water Law from New York have in common? The answer is that they have their work published in the latest edition of ‘Dundee Writes’, the University of Dundee’s magazine of creative writing. Prisoner ‘mugshots’ help to challenge preconceptions over tea
A Graphic Design student exhibiting at this year’s University of Dundee Art, Design and Architecture Degree Show has used Britain’s love of tea as a way of highlighting the humanity of prisoners, regardless of their crimes. Monica Dunne (21), originally from Alloa, created ‘Mugshot’ in response to a brief to explore a stigmatised community. Monica visited prisons and probation centres across the UK to speak with offenders about their life over a cup of tea. Couple renew their own vows for University’s 50th anniversary
George and Sunita Thomson, who met and then tied the knot at the University of Dundee in 1987, returned to campus at the weekend to renew their marriage vows in front of fellow alumni. The couple met at the University’s Medical School in the 1980s when Sunita was studying for one of her subsequent three degrees from the University. Degree Show packed during opening weekend
More than 10,000 visitors flocked to this year's University of Dundee Art, Design and Architecture Degree Show during its opening weekend. Degree Show is Dundee’s largest annual exhibition of art and design. Awards recognise impact of skin disease research at Dundee
The international impact of dermatological research from the University of Dundee has been recognised by two major awards to Irene Leigh CBE, Professor of Cellular and Molecular Medicine. Professor Leigh has been awarded the British Society of Investigative Dermatology Medal, the highest honour in UK dermatological research. She has also been given the highest honour of the Society of Investigative Dermatology, the leading US research society at their recent meeting in Portland, Oregon.
