Royal visit highlights Thailand connections for University

The University of Dundee welcomed a royal visitor this weekend with HRH Princess Chulabhorn of Thailand arriving to see the world-class education and training facilities in the School of Medicine at Ninewells. The Princess has established the HRH Princess Chulabhorn College of Medical Science in Thailand. During her visit to the University she was shown areas of the medical school including Dundee's leading provision in clinical skills training. Mental health nurse shortlisted for prestigious award

A mental health nursing student from the University of Dundee is up for a prestigious award from the Royal College of Nursing. Third-year student Kirsty Killiard is the only mental health nurse from Scotland to be shortlisted for the national Andrew Parker Student Nurse Award, which will be announced in May. Kirsty (25), from Lochgelly, is one of four finalists chosen for the award which celebrates student nurses who stand out as patient champions and have changed nursing practice as a result of their own experience or interaction with patients. Dundee academic honoured for `outstanding’ research

Dr James Chalmers, of the University of Dundee, has been awarded the Patrick Neill Medal by the Royal Society of Edinburgh for his outstanding research work on respiratory infections and his expertise in bronchiectasis. The Patrick Neill Medal is one of the RSE’s major prizes for early career researchers in Scotland. Dr Chalmers is a Discovery Fellow and Honorary Consultant Physician in the Division of Molecular and Clinical Medicine, part of the University’s School of Medicine. Top 10 ranking for Dundee in best value for money survey

The University of Dundee has ranked amongst the top 10 best value for money universities in the UK. Dundee achieved the ranking in Expert Market’s new study to find out which institution promises best value for money. It also received praise for its excellent employment prospects, combined with cheap living costs. The report looked at a range of variables including typical student outgoings, the cost of renting and employment prospects post-graduation. Science and Art collaborations to go on display

A ground breaking exhibition that combines science and art will go on display at the University of Dundee’s LifeSpace Gallery this week. ‘Future Emerging Art and Technology’ (FEAT) has been created from collaborations between six internationally acclaimed artists and scientists undertaking cutting-edge work on new technologies.
