Dundee students up for Undergraduate Awards

Students from across the University of Dundee have been shortlisted for this year’s prestigious Undergraduate Awards. 10 students - representing disciplines across the University – are in the running for the awards, with MLitt English Studies student Sarah Coakley nominated twice for separate submissions. The winners will be announced next week, and all nominees will be invited to the awards ceremony in Dublin in November. Dundee Literary Festival 2017 launch

Superstar children’s author Jacqueline Wilson will make her way back to Dundee for a spot of afternoon tea this November. As part of this year’s Dundee Literary Festival, the Tracy Beaker author and Honorary Graduate of the University of Dundee will host a party for her fans at the headquarters of DC Thomson, where she cut her teeth as journalist in the 1960s. New diagnostic test for human African Sleeping Sickness

A new diagnostic test developed from research at the Universities of Dundee and Cambridge has been launched with the aim of helping eliminate the disease known as African sleeping sickness. Sleeping sickness, or Human African Trypanosomiasis (HAT), is caused by parasites transmitted by tsetse flies in sub-Saharan Africa and has a devastating impact, causing thousands of deaths each year. Explorers invited to delve into the history of River Eden

Enthusiasts and citizen scientists are invited to join geographers and environmental photographers from the University of Dundee to explore the historic effects of climate change on the River Eden in Fife.
