Top 10 ranking for Dundee in best value for money survey

The University of Dundee has ranked amongst the top 10 best value for money universities in the UK.

Dundee achieved the ranking in Expert Market’s new study to find out which institution promises best value for money. It also received praise for its excellent employment prospects, combined with cheap living costs.

The report looked at a range of variables including typical student outgoings, the cost of renting and employment prospects post-graduation.

Vice-Principal (Learning & Teaching) Karl Leydecker said, “This is another great piece of news for the University that is helping us to move towards our ambition of becoming Scotland's leading university.

“We aim to make sure the University is open and affordable for everyone and we will continue to do, and also make positive improvements along the way.”

Adelle Kehoe, Head of Research at Expert Market, said, “Of the 119 universities that we analysed, the University of Dundee landed in the top 10 for value for money. Dundee has a winning combination of excellent employment prospects and cheap living costs - it also had the 4th cheapest pint of all university towns in our study which is an added bonus for prospective students.

“Our research offers students a fresh take on the value for money concept, and takes into account a range of factors that we have found to be the most important. With so many higher education options to choose from we hope that our study makes choosing your university that little bit easier.”

The news follows the University being named most cost-effective city in Scotland by the Royal Bank of Scotland in 2016. Dundee was also named Scottish University of the Year for the second year in succession in the Times/Sunday Times Good University Guide and been ranked 15th in the UK in the latest Times Higher Education (THE) Student Experience Survey.

Last week Dundee was rated the top UK university in the Times Higher Education Young University Rankings.
