Dundee students up for Undergraduate Awards

Students from across the University of Dundee have been shortlisted for this year’s prestigious Undergraduate Awards.

10 students - representing disciplines across the University – are in the running for the awards, with MLitt English Studies student Sarah Coakley nominated twice for separate submissions. The winners will be announced next week, and all nominees will be invited to the awards ceremony in Dublin in November.

The other nominees are:

  • Martha Andrews – Interior and Environmental Design
  • Joanne Hall – Fine Art
  • Ruby Main – Philosophy
  • Daniel McCallum – Geopolitics
  • Alex North – Medicine
  • Michaela Omelkova – Biomedical Science
  • Jordan Skrynka – Psychology
  • Maxim Tsenkov – Molecular Genetics
  • David Wright – Biochemistry

Cited as the ultimate accolade for the highest performing undergraduates, the Undergraduate Awards is the world’s only pan-discipline academic awards programme that identifies leading creative thinkers through their undergraduate coursework.

Professor Karl Leydecker, Vice-Principal (Learning & Teaching) at the University, said, “This is a fantastic achievement by our students. The Undergraduate Awards are fiercely contested among students at highly prestigious universities from around the world so it is a great reflection of the quality of our students here at Dundee that we are so well represented.”
