'Virtual Reality: The Future Is Now’ – Café Science on 12 February
An expert from the University of Dundee will discuss the science behind virtual reality and augmented reality and explore what the future holds for these technologies at a Café Science event next week. Dr Rachel Menzies, Lecturer in Computing at the University, will deliver her talk, entitled, ‘Virtual Reality: The Future Is Now’, at Avery & Co, South Tay Street from 7pm on Monday 12 March. Lord Provost becomes 200,000th SHARE signatory at celebration of global diabetes partnership
Lord Provost of Dundee Ian Borthwick will next week become the 200,000th signatory to a unique database helping researchers to carry out ground-breaking medical research. He will sign up for the Scottish Health Research Register (SHARE) when he welcomes the world-renowned diabetes researcher Dr V Mohan to the city on Monday 12 March to discuss a major new Scotland-India clinical partnership to combat diabetes. Parkinson’s patient raises £70,000 for research into disease
A Parkinson’s patient who has lived with the disease for more than a decade has visited the University of Dundee to see how money he has raised will be used to research potential new treatments for the condition. Marc Van Grieken, from Comrie in Perthshire, visited the University’s Medical Research Centre Protein Phosphorylation and Ubiquitylation Unit (MRC-PPU) to present £70,000 to researchers and find out more about how it will be spent. £8000 scholarships open to pupils with a degree in their sights
School pupils in Dundee looking to move on to higher education are invited to apply for scholarships worth £8000 over the duration of a four-year degree at the University of Dundee. The Joan Markie and Richard Smith Scholarship is open to sixth-year pupils who attend a local authority secondary school in Dundee and who are planning to study at the University.
