Proud mum has best seat in the house for Graduation
There will be no shortage of proud mums at this week’s University of Dundee Graduation ceremonies but only one will be on stage when her son receives his degree. Jackie Malcolm, a Senior Lecturer at the University’s Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design, will be part of the traditional academic procession across City Square and onto the Caird Hall stage on Wednesday 20 June. Her son, Cameron, will graduate with a First Class honours degree in Product Design during the afternoon ceremony. Campus voted one of the best in UK
The University of Dundee has been voted as one of the best campuses in the UK – and top in Scotland – in a poll of students across the country. Dundee came 4th in the rankings compiled by Student Crowd, a website that compares various aspects of university life by asking students to review their institution. Dental dynasty with roots in Dundee
A growing dental dynasty will be celebrated at the first University of Dundee Graduation ceremony of the year this week. Callum Weir will graduate on the morning of Wednesday 20 June, following in the footsteps of his late mother, and aunt and uncle (the son of a dentist). Not to be outdone, Callum’s cousin is also a dentist, as is her husband. Callum’s mother, Moira, passed away in 2012 before her son decided to pursue a career in dentistry. She is a former politician who once worked in the glitz of Glasgow’s Theatreland, but an Angus octogenarian is preparing to take centre stage when she graduates from the University of Dundee this week. Computing whizz kids gear up for university challenge
Scottish school pupils will demonstrate their computing prowess next week when they clash keyboards for the University of Dundee’s Strathmore Trophy. Teams from 15 secondary schools will take part in the annual event on Monday 18 June, which challenges the programmers of tomorrow to complete a complex task set by staff from the University’s Computing department.
