The image, captured by NASA’s Terra satellite at 12:11 UTC, demonstrates the scale of fire as it continues to spread on what is otherwise a perfectly clear day for the United Kingdom. Volunteering nets accolade for computing lecturer

A University of Dundee lecturer has been honoured for his work in promoting science to the public. Dr Iain Murray, of the University’s Computing department, has been awarded the British Science Association’s (BSA) prestigious Sir Walter Bodmer Award for his decades of service to the charity. Maths award to recognise links to Northern Ireland

From Danny Blanchflower to Snow Patrol, the University of Dundee has a proud history of welcoming Northern Irish students to Scotland and a new award, presented for the first time last week, celebrates this relationship. The University of Dundee Mathematics Award will be given to Northern Ireland’s top performing student in GCSE Mathematics each year. The last of three prize-winning sisters will add the latest chapter to an amazing story of family success at graduation this week. Wimberley Award 2018 shared by Charlie and Matilda

A young Scot helped into higher education by a pioneering widening access scheme and an English student who applied on a last-minute whim have shared the most prestigious award given to University of Dundee students.
